It’s that time of the year again; recap time and a list of my favorite bites and food highlights from the past year. 2014 was a great year of eating, shared with amazing family and fabulous friends. Not so great for my waistline, but some serious deliciousness all around. My summer trip to Italy was definitely a highlight, while the Vancouver food scene’s constant evolution is producing some stunning and delicious food. Life changing Margherita pizza at Pepe in Grani (Caiazzo)
A perfect January day; oysters, wine and good friends at Taylor Shellfish Farm in Bellingham

After a week of Vegas fare, this steamed Chilean sea bass knocked it out of the park
At our reunion dinner pop-up, I tasked one of the boys to make my old chicken liver parfait. The parfait was like hanging out with an old friend I hadn’t seen in a while.
A sampling of Chef Pino Posteraro’s housemade charcuterie was highlighted by his 3 year old “pata negra” style ham. I’ve eaten a lot of jamon, prosciutto and ham in my day, this ham was ridiculous.

Every year, I crave at least one massive live Alaskan king crab feast. This year’s feast was extra special because my “Parental Units” flew in from Toronto for this meal.
Not a big fan of tortillas or sturgeon, but this sturgeon taco at Rob Clark’s The Fish Counter was incredible
White truffle wine dinner at Notturno was a delicious and luxurious experience
I eat a fair amount of sushi, but the madai that night at Zest Japanese Cuisine, was exceptional

Japanese A5 Wagyu at Octopus’ Garden was such an unexpected and luxe treat
